Demos internship Preparation 2009

This image and text is from 'the art of looking sideways' (Alan Fletcher). If being powerless to change the world directly then is this like being caged? Are there invisible boundaries that keep us from changing climate change, economic factors? Is this a social issue?

Demos internship Preparation 2009

Personal freedom could be represented by wings, speaking out (I just get images of the oxfam though) inner freedom, the inside of something - feeling whole, personal space, boundaries / obstacles no longer an issue. Democracy - For me it represents the inner ability to say what you want and 'knowing that'. say maybe something that is there but is not noticed but is extremely powerful.

University of brighton, Innovation Awards Pitch 'all you need is an idea'

The first image is an extract from 'the art of looking sideways' by Alan Fletcher concerning imagination. below is an idea for a poster with only dots communicating 'all you need is an idea'. Surely the idea is to get the audience to participate...

Demos Internship Prep, Feb 2009

What do we think of when faced with the word democracy? I naturally think of today's society feeding from my own background. My first ideas around democracy and society probably developed through play. And what was the perfect society to a child of 4? Well I thought Lego presented that - towns built with fire stations, police and ambulances. I would build towns to this social model. Did Lego ever release a parliament set to construct?

Touchnote goes Live

Touchnote is a company that allows people to send greetings cards from the internet. It's main rivals are moon pig - but this company has an ingenious card design which also doubles up as the envelope. - I liked what they were about and produced several designs under licence for them to use.

Market Illustration

The Ups and downs of the markets. One thing I have noticed is that the Dowjones and FTSE100 keep alternating money going in and out - it seems when money is taken out of one money is dumped in the other.

Demos internship Prep

One of the key ideas Demos is working on is social mobility. With the NHS supporting top ups how will this affect mobility within the NHS in terms of treatment? Does the choice to pay affect those who can't? IS this polarizing the NHS between rich and poor? and will less affluent areas get a less affluent health service? and is this pre 1948?
